Preamps

The new Audio Research REF3  is the state-of-the-art in preamps today.  ARC designed the REF3 to accompany the new Reference  T610, T210 and 110 amplifiers, but it will bring the most from any other amp connected to it.  Fully balanced and single ended at each selection. It uses the 6H30 "Super Tubes" as did the REF2 MK 2It has a visual display that reads volume, balance, phase, input selection, whether balance or single ended, and even the tube use hours. This is the finest preamp we have heard at our store or any where else. If you are building a reference audio system this is the preamp of choice.

The Audio Research LS26 preamp replaces the LS25 MK 2. This unit takes technology from the REF 3 preamp and gives it at lower cost.  It uses two 6H30 "super tubes" Has balanced and single ended inputs for each function as the REF3.  ARC says it better than the REF2 MK 2 and after having it in the store I believe  them. It is $4000.00 less that the REF2 MK 2. Listen before buying a used REF2 preamp.

The new LS17 preamp replace the LS16 MK 2  and  uses the long life 6H30 "super tubes" as the REF3 and LS26. It offers balance and single end input/outputs as the more expensive models but at a much lower cost.. The sound is very similar to the LS25 MK 2, but better at a much lower cost. Offered in natural or black face plates.  I carry all of these preamps in the store and would be glad to compare them for you.

The  SP16  is one of ARC's newer preamps and offers great tube performance at a much lower cost.  Comes in a line stage version and a phono version. Though the SP16 is at a much lower price range, it offers great performance that is found in more expensive competitors.  I carry all of these ARC preamps in stock so come in for a "test drive."

Audio Research PH 7 Phono preamp  ARC's newest phono preamp, replacing the Ref Phono and it is better. The new PH 5  has a lot of  the  sound,  detail  and  presentation of the PH 7 and is quite a bit less than the PH 7.  Both offer remote control, cartridge loading from 100 ohms to 47K ohms, mute,  and adequate gain for lower output moving coil cartridges.  I carry both of these preamps and great hi-end turntables to test them.

                                       Amps

Audio Research REF210 mono blocks amps. Born out of the ARC REF 610T Amp technology, but with a much lower cost. Beauty and brawn brought together in harmony. This amp has the beautiful tube sound of ARC but will drive the most difficult loads. It has a large sound stage in deep and width.  Easy biasing and a front  panel information window similar to the REF3 preamp. Includes a remote control. The REF210 has two "little brothers", the REF110 and the VM220 monos Audio Research tube, it is what you've wanted!

The new Audio Research REF 110 stereo Amp. This amp is the finest 100 per channel amp that ARC has produced.  It is a totally new design from the VT100 MK 3 that has a  long standard for audiophiles and it is far better.  It is very close to the sound of the REF 210 mono amps. It doesn't have the display panel but has a meter inside that gives tube hours. One the Vandersteen 5A's, I am hearing detail on source material that I had not hear before. This amp is very strong for it's 100 watt rating. It has dual cooling fans for long tube life.

ARC HD 220 was introduced at the January 2007 CES Show. This is a totally new design for Audio Research.  It is a hybrid stereo amp of 220 watts per channel. There are only two small tubes per channel, a 6922 and 6H30, driving a specially designed    bi-polar transistor configuration. The output transistors are constantly biased and sampled for heat. This is the best solid state (hybrid) amp I have have in the store. It is reasonably priced for its performance and will have low maintenance cost. ARC has now introduced a new sold state version, the SD 135 and 135 per channel with FET's instead of the tubes. It much less in cost.

The Rogue 150 Mono Blocks were introduced over a year and a half ago and have          been an outstanding product. They offer 150 watts in "ultalinear" mode and 100 watts in "triode" mode. They have a built in meter for easy biasing. The 150's are cosmetically attractive, robust and have a large detailed soundstage. They offer balanced and single ended operation.  They are unbelievably priced for US manufactured mono amps of this quality. Rogue produces great sounding preamps, stereo amps and the hi-end  200 watt per channel Zeus amp.

Rogue introduced last year a new integrated amp called the Cronus. It is 50 watts per channel using the classic EL34 tubes, has phono, headphone jack and remote. Like the M150's there is a meter for easy biasing. This amp is US made and  a bargain. It  sounds like it cost twice as much as its price. There is also a separate preamp and amp version. The Magnum integrated amp has been upgraded and is now 90 watts per channel and without a price increase.
