The new Vandersteen Quarto is similar in design to the Model 5A, but has two 8" subwoofers with a 250watt amp in the bottom in each speaker. As in the Model 5A's there is a midbass, midrange and tweeter in the top section. The cosmetics are similar to the Vanderteen 2's and 3's but the front is more narrow at the bottom and especially at the top. The sound is detailed and smooth with excellent bass. They disappear in your room as do the Model 5A's. They are very reasonable for a speaker of this quality. The Quartro's use the same single ended or balanced crossovers as the Model 5A. There is a excellent review in the July 2006 issue of Stereophile Magazine starting on page 95 by one of our respected reviewers, Michael Fremer. Please read it before buying any other speaker in the price range (Or above) of the Vandersteen Quartro's. |

Amphion is a high quality speaker manufacturer in Finland. I found them at A CES show about four years ago. They didn't have elaborate room setups but I was drawn to their systems by the beautiful music I heard there. After listening for two years, I decided to carry them at the store. I learned there was a reason for the great sound I heard. They time align their divers as does Vandersteen. They use minimal crossovers and get the phase right. Amphion uses high end tweeters that extend below the normal crossover range, thus keeping the crossover out of the voice range. Amphion offers black/silver finishes and beautiful real wood finishes at a slightly higher cost. I have sold several different models: the Helium2, the argon2 and the Xenon2. Prices per pair range from $1150. to $17,500. NOTE: I HAVE A MINT PAIR OF ZENON2 (SAME AS PICTURE) AT GREATLY REDUCED PRICE - CALL OR EMAIL!

Bruce Thigpen of Eminent Technology has been at the front of innovation in the audio industry. As a trained physicist and audiophile Bruce designed the Coloney Air Bearing Turntable, and the Model One and Two Air Bearing Tonearms. He followed this with his now famous dynamic planner speakers. The first models are larger units for the home but later he designed smaller units for the computer and cars. One of the most successful speakers is the Model Eight. Bruce uses magnet structure in front and behind the panels which has the voice coil "etched" on the panel. The result is very light panel which is well controlled by the dual magnet structure front and back of the panel. Extend and seamless bass is provided by the woofer at the bottom which is a special design by Burce. They are very reasonable in cost for a planer speaker of the quality. I highly recommend the Sound Anchor bases with them.. |

The Vandersteen 2C has been one of the most successful speakers ever produced. Through the years we have sold many and it is interesting that we hardly ever get them back unless the customer wants to go too much higher end speakers. Richard Vandersteen has now introduced a new version called the 2Ce Signature V2. Bass, midrange and treble is improved and its sound is more like the Model 3a's. The 3a Signature is quite a bit better at a slightly higher cost. It is taller and offers better bass, detail, air and soundstage. It will be worth the difference in cost if you are a critical listener. I also carry the model 1C. These speaker are unsurpassed in their price range! |
